Tips on Packing Lunches

Once again can't remember which website I got these from.

Here are some tips to help end the "Oh no, I have to pack another lunch" syndrome:

  • Know what your children like to eat
  • Consider their hunger level
  • Use the proper packaging, wraps, bags, small containers - be clear on which container needs to be brought home.
  • Make it look good
  • Keep it the proper temperature - thermos, ice bricks, frozen fruit juices
  • Make it fun - little notes or treats
  • Make healthy desserts as they get eaten first
  • Make drinks count - smoothies not just juice
  • Use a thermos for soups, stews or other hot foods
  • anything goes for lunch, even cereal with milk, baked potatoes, cold pizza, leftover green beans, whatever your children like to eat
  • Don't worry if all the food is not eaten, even if they just eat the healthy drink and nutritious dessert, they will be fine until the next meal or until they learn to eat more of their lunch.
