Brave New Lunch

I stumbled across this site from another blog Fed up with Lunch and I find it so interesting, the problems that American schools face to provide school lunches that are nutritional but popular with the children. This particular entry about the changes made to baked potatoes is the essence of what this food director is trying to do.

You may or may not know, but in Australia most schools do not provide school lunches, children come with packed lunches from home, so we don't seem to have the same issues that America and the UK do with school suppling food that is mostly artificial due to government budgeting problems. It is all left up to the parents. Also you may or may not know most school in Australia are nut free zones due to the allergy epidemic here, so school lunches have to conform to this rule. It was quite educational to see how many products have nuts in them.
