Top Spot, Kuching

Top Spot
Padungan Road. KuchingKuchingMalaysia

Top Spot is an open air, seafood only, food court that has live local entertainment on some nights. It is located in the heart of the city on one of the top floors of a high rise building. As you exit the lifts from the car park, you will be greeted by staff as each try to get you to buy from their stall, where they will cook what you choose then deliver it to your table.. We always go with eg.me's parents to ABC Seafood. Staff from the separate drinks stall walk around for you to order from them.
This is the only place that eg.me consistently loves. The food cannot be anything but delicious and fresh. And what I like about it most, is that unlike other hawker places in Malaysia it is relatively clean and more importantly the food is kept really clean.

ABC Seafood is exceptionally clean with lovely seafood and vegetable produce enticingly laid out for you to pick. You can pick whatever quantity or combination you like, good for the fussy or light or in our case greedy eater.

Raw and then cooked Midin, eg.me's favorite vegetable. Sw,me and I love it as well. It can be cooked anyway Kang Kong can be, and it has a delightful crunc. I'm told it only grows in Borneo and parts of Philippines. It is part of the fern family and apparently grows abundantly in any swampy area, even in drains etc. When I tried to google more about it, there is no information at all apart from someone claiming its scientific name is Stenochlaena palustris

These are the famous salt prawns, another of eg.me's favorites. The prawns are deep fried, I think, and coated in large chunks of salt. However as you have to peel them later you do peel off the salt as well, so its not unbearably salty as you may think.

Sarawak oyster omelette, you guessed it another of eg.me's favorites. It is different you notice to Malacca Heng Hua omelette which is gooey. This is crispy and you break off the crisp egg bowl which is like a cracker. Then you get to the oyster bits inside. I image that its cooked inside a giant work.

The catch, the haul and we ate the dish of black pepper crabs. Notice how big they are. The only problem was that the crabs came out after we had finished everything else, but we just took it home to eat for dinner the next day. We suspect the crab chef was late for work that day and no one else dared to cook it.
